Clinton
Clinton is located at the entrance of Whidbey Island. It is the beginning of Whidbey Isle Scenic Byway as well as the beginning of the North Cascade Loop!
Discovering Clinton takes you on an adventure through rural back roads with surprises and beauty around every corner. This vibrant historical community has been around since the early 1800s and has always been a travel destination. Car ferries entered the picture in 1919, with the growing popularity of automobile touring, and also led to some amazing tourist attractions. The first ferry in Island County especially designed to carry automobiles was the Whidbey I, operated by the Central Ferry Company between Clinton and Mukilteo. Clinton is unique, offering a bit of everything while maintaining a small-town feel. 95% of our businesses are family owned and operated with some of those businesses owned by multiple generations including our hotels! As you drive the rural roads you will notice an abundance of commerce that happens in the woods and off the beaten path.
Discover idyllic pastures and shepherds, find out what makes our pickles so great (hint, it’s our water), take your kids to learn how to fish from the greatest hidden bait shack, and watch orcas and grey whales pass by from Clinton’s 25 miles of shoreline then end the day by visiting many of the small shops and restaurants in two business areas! We invite you to explore, step off the beaten path, and discover all that Clinton has to offer.
